MY STUDIO
I am pleased to be building a cello studio in Great Falls, Montana! I teach lessons from my home studio in the downtown area of the city.
My Teaching Philosophy
I consider myself to be a traditional teacher incorporating several Suzuki Method principals, particularly emphasizing good technique, learning the value of effort, and using music as a tool to nurture soft skills that benefit non-musical aspects of school and/or life.
Through cello lessons I strive to help students reach the following goals:
I believe music, and especially the cello, is something that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Private instruction is the best way to learn a musical instrument because the one-to-one approach allows a teacher to tailor each lesson to fit the needs and strengths of an individual student.
If you are wondering if there is an age when a child can start music lessons, keep in mind that very young children and babies are professional learners. They are constantly absorbing information from their environment and this makes young kids especially good candidates for music education. It is never too early to start exposing a child to music through listening or classes like Kindermusic or Music Together. With strong parental support, a child as young as 4-6 may be ready for private instruction. The best way to find out if it is the right time is to observe a lesson or take a trial lesson.
