TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Goal #3

Develop valuable skills, traits, and habits that help the student excel in other areas beyond music lessons.

For my school-age students I view cello lessons as part of their overall education, helping to prepare them for life as an adult. Through music I try to teach kids how to do things like listening carefully, managing time wisely, self-assessment, how to give and take constructive criticism, and have cooperative and respectful working relationships with mentors and peers. By nurturing these "soft skills" in addition to musical skills I hope to play a role in helping young students become high achievers who are equipped to pursue any goal or dream they choose.
